Good to know
Plain text only: up to 50,000 UTF-16 code units and 500 lines per side. Compares whole lines, not individual words, document formatting or meaning. CRLF, CR and LF line endings are treated alike; a final newline creates an extra empty line. Empty sides are allowed. No files, uploads or saved history.
It matches lines in order and highlights insertions and deletions. Replacing a line appears as one removal and one addition. It does not interpret the meaning of prose or code.
Can I ignore capitalization or whitespace?
Yes. Case mode converts comparison keys to Unicode lowercase. Spacing mode collapses spaces and tabs and trims line edges. Original text stays intact. Matching rows show the revised version, so ignored differences are not highlighted.
Why does a trailing newline appear as a change?
A final line break creates a final empty line in this tool. Blank lines are preserved, while Windows, Unix and classic Mac line-ending styles are normalized.
Is this a document comparison or plagiarism checker?
No. Paste plain text from your documents. Formatting, images, PDF/Word files, semantic similarity and plagiarism detection are not supported. Text stays in your browser.
